"The Last Traffic Light"

Well, it has been so long since I posted to this blog that I almost forgot how..... Here are a few of my tomatoes that I did in colored pencil.  I will post each one individually and then show you how they where framed...  Once in the frame the title was "The Last Traffic Light".  This was because I had already done Apples, "Traffic Light" and Peppers, "The Next Traffic Light", So this was going to be the "Last" one in the series.
One good thing about using vegetables for props is that you get to eat them! So I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

"Rhodie in the Spotlight"

Here is another floral,  this one is done in Watercolor!  The flower was from my garden but I did change the values a bit to give it more depth in the shadows.  I wanted the flower with the light filtering through the petals to be the focal point!  Size on this one is
10" H x 14" wide.  As you can tell I really like to paint florals.  I was always told that you do your best work when you enjoy what you are painting!

Grand Opening

Looks like I have been very bad about keeping up my blog!  So today I thought I would add a new piece.  This one is all Colored Pencil, done on White Stonehenge Paper, size is aprox. 10" x 10 ".  The title came about becuase I was having a one woman show and I needed something to use for a grabber.  So I thought "Grand Opening" sounded like it would fit the bill!

Radiant Rose.

Well it seems like it has been a while since I last posted to this Blog.  Time sure flies when we are having Fun!
This painting was done with Watercolor.  It is of one of the roses that I received for my birthday several years ago.  The Rose has long since faded and died but hopefully the painting will keep it alive forever.

It was done on Arches Watercolor Paper using various Watercolors.
Size 14"H x 18"W.

Autumn's Bounty

Well it looks like a missed a day... But I did post 2 paintings on Friday, that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it!!

"Autumn's Bounty" was done on Arches Watercolor Paper using various Watercolor paints.   Size is 10" H x 14" W.  I got the idea for this painting when I saw the branch of berries up against the blue sky.  Since chickadees are one of my favorite birds I thought it would be a good contrast against the bright blue of the sky.

Broken Strand

Here is another of my favorite Colored Pencil Paintings..... It's on Stonehenge White Paper.  Size is 11" x 15".  I won a First Place with this at an Art Show in Ohio and  I entered it three times in the CPSA National and never had it accepted.  But I like it so I guess that's all that matters......

"Bobby and Laddie"

Well another Day and another Post.... Hope you are all enjoying this!  These paintings were done with Faber Castell Pitt Pastel Pencils on Coffee Fabriano Tiziano Paper.  Size is about 11" x 11" The two daogs were only about 8 months old when I did these paintings.  The are Cairn Terriers. Sad to say "Bobby" is our only dog now!  We had to have his half brother "Laddie" put to sleep last year as he had Cancer.  So I am so glad that we have this to remeber him by.  It is just about life size so I feel like I am looking at him in person.  Photos are nice but they are always too small.  Hope you like these two ......

Blue Amethyst

Well I am trying to live up to my word by posting one item a day to my Blog!  "Blue Amethyst" is a mixed media painting!  All of the Petals were done with Watercolor and the Center was done with Prismacolor Pencils!  The size is 11" x 11" and was done on Arches Watercolor paper.   This is another one of my paintings that sold the first day at an Art Show!  I have been very fortunate in that respect!

Eternal Dogwood

I will try to post a new piece of art each day... It takes me a while to do this as I have arthritis in some of my fingers so typing takes me while....
This painting was done in Watercolor.  I had cut a branch from my dogwood tree and  put it in a Vase on my kitchen counter.  This was my first attempt at painting"white flowers"!  I used so many colors in this painting, but no white! The light coming through the window made interesting shadows on the flowers and it gave them a beautiful glow!.  I finished it and framed it the day before I took it to an art show. It received an Honorable Mention! I didn't get to enjoy looking at this one as it sold the first day!

Since I am new at this I thought I would just add a few of my Paintings and tell you a little about each of them.  The one above is called "Autumn Mosaic".  It was done with Prismacolor Pencils on White Stonehenge Paper.  Size is 11 1/2 inches High by 15 1/2 wide.  I had collected the leaves and acorns when I was on a walk and took them home.  I threw them on the ground late in the afternoon so that I would have good shadows.  I did have to make up several of the leaves as I didn't have enough to fill in the whole area.  This is one of my Favorite pieces.  It has received several awards including "Best of Show" at our Local CPSA Chapter and I was fortunate to have it accepted into the Scribble Talk 2009 Calender.

January 22nd, 2010

Since I have never been very computer literate starting a blog does not come easy to me.... However, I am taking the plunge here and now!

I work in several mediums.... Colored Pencil, Watercolor, Pastel and sometimes Pen & Ink.

I am a Signature Member of The Colored Pencil Society of America and Colored Pencil is my favorite medium to work in.  However, I also love to paint Florals and Landscapes in Watercolor and Animals in Pastels.  Pen & Ink I use very seldom, only if the piece needs to go into a mixed media catagory.  Here are a few examples of my work....
